Tom is a Washington original and one of the most respected winemakers in Washington state, being part of the first wave of UC Davis educated Enologists and Viticulturists to land in Washington in the early 80's. Having made wine from Sonoma to Monterey to Montana he worked as the enologist at Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Grandview Winery, one of Washington’s oldest and most prestigious wineries.
In 1998, Bijal, Tom’s nephew, approached him to create the ultimate Bordeaux style blend. The result was the runaway success called Darighe.
Jean Claude Beck
Jean Claude comes from several generations of French winemakers; his family estate in Alsace, France has been producing wine since 1579. With winemaking literally in his blood, Jean Claude has demonstrated expertise in the cultivation of diverse varietals at various wineries in California, and at Apex Cellars and Owen Roe in Washington State.
Jean-Claude has the magic touch with making wine. To quote a European gourmet magazine, Feinschmecken, “everything that this winemaker touches turns to gold in the bottle.” Jean Claude’s motto is “No boring wines!”
