I have had the good fortune to discover Woodhouse over 10 years ago and watch as they have become one of the premier boutique wineries in Washington. While their reserve wines are excellent across the board, Darighe, though, is something else. It is consistently a step ahead in nose, flavor, concentration, and finish. I won't go in to the usual wine-review flowery language, rather I'll just say I have taken Darighe to blind tastings against the likes of Leonetti, Quilceda Creek, Long Shadows, and DeLille, not easy competition, and have often been selected "Best of Tasting". On other occasions I have taken a bottle of Darighe to restaurants known for their wine lists - knowing it would be unlikely to find Darighe - and have had the sommeliers on more than one occasion ask me for contact information so they could add it to their wine lists. Darighe is a very special wine, and deserves far more awareness than it has received. But look at the production numbers, only 224 cases produced - 2,688 bottles. And I imagine a good percentage of those never make it past the front door, being used for tasting or consumed at the winery. It is a great wine, and a value at its listed price, really far more affordable than its peers.

Had to go in and open a bottle as it has been a year since I had itasted. Woodhouse is the winery that got me hooked on wine. This is still a wine that will age well, but drinks well now. Decanted a bottle, gave it an hour more and the structure and flavors stands out. Good tannins and that full even tasting on the pallet with a good mouth feel you look for. I will not bother to give you nose or tastings notes as that is not my strong suit, but simply out . . . EXCELLENT buy as much as you can bunker.
